Academy Description
WALIPP-TSU Preparatory Academy is a unique HISD Charter School founded by the William A. Lawson Institute for Peace and Prosperity. It was founded to meet the critical academic and social development needs of inner-city youth. Targeting middle school males, the Academy is an authentic (real-world) learning community. Relocated to the campus of Texas Southern University in 2007, it uses a creative academic and experiential curriculum to build student success and to develop the total person. Its highly qualified staff and program support have been constructed to:

SCHOOL DAY AND SCHOOL YEAR
The WALIPP Preparatory Academy follows the HISD Academic Calendar. The school day will be from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm for class sessions, tutorials and personal enrichment programs.
DAILY LUNCH
The standard HISD school lunch program is available. The School Lunch Forms will be completed for free and reduced lunches for students at admission to the school.
