Themes for exchanges; have focused on “Respecting Differences”, “Celebrating Differences” and “A Unique Vision of God-And A Shared One.”
A Day of Harmony
The Coalition for Mutual Respect provides programming for youth as well. Understanding that young people play a vital role in helping to shape our city’s future and they are our future leaders, the Coalition for Mutual Respect has provided thousands of HISD middle school students with opportunities to hear speakers whose personal life stories convey the importance of not using drugs, avoiding gangs and speaking out against prejudice.
The “A Day of Harmony” program allows Christian, Jewish and Muslim families to get to know each other better through interactive and age appropriate workshops to be led by trained facilitators. Called Walking Together, the program was developed by the National. Federation of Temple Brotherhoods and adopted by the Coalition for Mutual Respect’s board members.
